I'm a Tree

Shared this first picture with a friend today and he said, "looks like you're growing out of the ground." Yes, I'm a tree everyone. Growing in the dead of winter.

I'm drinking in the last few minutes of Sunday...as you know its my favorite day. I am finishing it up with one of my favorite movies.... Pride and Prejudice.

"How are you this evening, my dear?
Very well... although I wish you would not call me "my dear."
Because it's what my father always calls my mother when he's cross about something.
  What endearments am I allowed?
Well let me think..."Lizzy" for every day, "My Pearl" for Sundays, and..."Goddess Divine"... but only on *very* special occasions.
And... what should I call you when I am cross? Mrs. Darcy...?
No! No. You may only call me "Mrs. Darcy"... when you are completely, and perfectly, and incandescently happy.
Then how are you this evening... Mrs. Darcy?"

Tender Moments this Week

Tender moments this week:

1. On our way to Salt Lake, my phone rang and it was my sister-in-law calling. I answered with a simple "hello" and I hear, "HI Bwwwwan!" It was my two year old nephew. Then I hear my sister-in-law in the background, "Sam, did you call someone?" Then she grabbed the phone. The greatest thing was that he couldn't have known what he was doing but he recognized my voice and it was the cutest thing ever.  We chatted for a bit and hung up. I discovered this when we had hung up...

2. Seeing the way my grandma caressed my dad's cheek as he smoothed her hair and kissed her forehead and they each said, "I love you."

 3. My grandma has taken care of everything in her path her whole life. The reason I say everything and not everyone is because she literally takes care of EVERYTHING. It was so special to see how loved she is by her family. Now its her turn to get some five star treatment that she has given her whole life.

4. Dad told grandma she was the most beautiful woman in the whole hospital and she said, "I'll take it."

 5. Grandma reaching for my hand just to hold it.

6. Dad humming "Oh Holy Night to Grandma and as he did, Grandma began to hum as well.

6.  I walked by a man in the store and smiled. He stopped me and said, "You have such a beautiful smile, thanks for sharing it. You just make my day better." If only he knew that he made my day as well.

7.  Sam singing along to the Spirit of God in the car.

8.  Tanner (my other 2 year old nephew) sitting on his Grandpa's lap quietly and totally content during sacrament meeting.

9. Sam wanting to be by "my Tanner".

10. Lydia snoring in church. For an hour and a half...

I could share so many more from this week. I seriously realize more and more how blessed I am.  I look forward to all the tender moments I will get to experience this week! Hope you all have a great last day of the year tomorrow.

Snow Snow Snow

Button Down- Gap   Vest-Thrifted   Jeans-Thrifted   Boots-Thrifted  Hat- Thrifted   Glasses- AE   Watch- Nordstrom Rack

Want to know the saddest thing about my outfit? The most expensive piece (not including the watch) is my white button down. The white basic boring but essencial button down cost more than anything else.

Oh, and these boots..they're totally vintage. And when I bought them I am 95% sure they had NEVER been worn. I imagine that some lady bought them in some little resort town, had the idea that she would love them but then they just sat in her closet until she decided they were taking up too much space after 30 years. I sure am happy she decided to give them away because now my feet will take up that warm soft space. Now they're my new treasure.

Phone Diary

Here's my phone diary from a few pictures I captured this past week...

I love ALL things vintage. I found this box at my grandma's house. It is an old box from a pair of shoes of my Dad!

Wish we could find some Converse All-stars on sale for $.49 cents!

My sweet grandma continues to struggle with her health. She is still in the hospital. We are praying for God's will to happen. We just want her to be better and at home.
Christmas Eve Dad and I ate at Olive Garden. Not your typical Christmas eve but we made the most of it and enjoyed each other's company

 Christmas morning burritos...Rancharito's open 24/7.

Goodbye Salt Lake City for now...
My lovely Christmas presents...and I got the Lucky One...LOVE.

Realized that I love girly things...

Lots of snow and still loving my moccasins.
I made this scarf for Ashley! I kinda want to make a hundred more.

Fresh snow and bunny prints. (instagram blonde_brandib)

Love my vintage Bob Dylan t shirt. I am always searching for sweet concert t shirts!

Family Photography

I have been wanting to take pictures of my sister Jennifer's little family forever! We finally got a time where it worked for all of us. The two little boys were not too interested and didn't want to cooperate very much, but I love the candit shots more than anything!!

 Tanner's GQ shot

I also shot a few pics of my wonderful Dad and his crazy pal Mori.
Dad's GQ shot.

I know I am no professional but I am grateful to capture the light and personality of those in my family.

I feel like one lucky girl to have them....

Merry Christmas!

We had quite an eventful few days. My dad and I traveled to Salt Lake Sunday evening to be with my 86 year old grandmother. She was gravely ill in the ICU. We thought we were going to lose her but she has slowly been recovering. Dad and I were there until this Christmas morning, got to give her hugs and kisses and help her eat, and then we came home be with our family here.

We got home about noon and had our traditional chocolate chip cinnamon waffles. Don't tell Dad I told you, but here's him adding the secret ingredient. It's amazing!

Um...maybe I was a little excited to open this big box...

My parents are the greatest... It was just Mom, Dad, and I opening each others gifts, enjoying the calm before the storm. Don't get me wrong though, I love the storm. I dance in the rain...

Correction...Mom, Dad, my sweet Kitty, and I...

Here's where it gets really fun...

Dane's evil eye. Somethings a brewing...Gotta keep two hands, two eyes, and even your toes on alert for this kid.

We had cheesecake for dessert...

Lots of wresting with these guys.... They're all true "BOYS"

Grandpa got all the kids headlamps and they went exploring in the basement.. Sam kept saying, "We see in the dark."

These two had fun with Sue (Jen's mom)

I can't get over their little toes.

My mom's amazing Christmas village. She decorates her house so beautifully every year!

We are missing my youngest sister McKenna and my older brother Trent. We look forward to having our Christmas Eve "Ugly Sweater Party/Dinner"  on Saturday night since we missed Christmas Eve. Can't wait to have the whole family together.

I hope you all had a wonderful day and were able to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. That to me is family, warmth, love, and the light of our Savior Jesus Christ. I know I felt it today and I'm so grateful that light was also able to touch my Grandma Buckley. Thanks to those who offered prayers in her behalf. She is our Christmas miracle.

Merry Christmas from the Buckley family!!

Feliz Natal!!
