There's So Much To Be Thankful For

Today is Thanksgiving. A day to especially reflect on what we are thankful for. My cousins Megan, Rachel, and Nathan put together a beautiful video of their oldest sister Lauren. The video speaks for itself and I am so excited to share it with all of you today. Lauren has gone through so much in her life but despite all she has suffered she has remained positive and faithful. She is a true bright example of gratitude, love, and sacrifice.

I am thankful for her example.
I'm thankful for my family.
I am thankful for my life. For my health. For my talents and abilities.
Most of all I'm thankful to know we are never alone. We have a Heavenly Father who is constantly with us and knows the desires of our hearts. He has a plan for each and every one of us. Knowing that is what brings true happiness and peace into my life!!

What are you thankful for?

Say "I Love You" and Give Hugs

Sunday Style//Tights are Old Navy but EVERYTHING else is thrifted.
Daniel Wellington watch, J.Crew bracelet

I went and visited my grandparents today. I try to go at least once a week. I really enjoy their company.
My grandma doesn't know who I am anymore. But she is still as sweet as ever. She will let me be that weirdo stranger that likes to give her hugs and tell her I love her. She always smiles when I do. Which makes me happy.
Grandpa complimented my coat today. "Your coat is really nice. It looks warm." I thanked him of course, agreed politely, and smiled. I really do love it. I wasn't sure about the color but after wearing it think it's quite perfect.
So.. I always forcefully tell Grandpa I love him. "I LOVE YOU GRANDPA!" Most times I will repeat it 2 or 3 times as I give him a big hug or put my arms around him....He usually just says "thank you." or "ok..." Well today he told me he loved me back. "I love you too my dear. More than you will ever know."  May seem like no big deal but for me it meant a lot. I can't stop thinking about it actually. I know he loves me. I know he loves so many people but he doesn't ever ever say it. It's amazing what these simple words can mean to someone. It made me realize I need to say it more to those I love. And give hugs. Hugs are a wonderful thing.

Here is an invitation for you to do the same. Go right now. Tell that special someone in your life "I LOVE YOU." Or the first person who comes to mind. Or the next person you see on the street. Also give them a big meaningful warm hug. No matter who they are, they need it.

Weekend Happenings

I really just had the best weekend. Saturday morning I got an email from a friend offering tickets to the BYU game so I text my dad (who LOVES BYU) "Dad, want to go to the BYU game tonight?" Mind you he lives in Idaho. Three hours away. He thought I was joking. I wasn't joking. So his spontaneous self jumped in the car and headed down my way! We bundled ourselves up and headed down to Provo.
Hot dogs, kettle corn, loads of hot chocolate, and lots of selfies as you can see.... I don't think I could have picked a better person to go with! He knows everything there is to know about football and knows what happens before anyone else calls it. He had the utmost patience with me to answer my questions and explain what was happening. We had seriously the best time despite the 23 degree weather. BYU ended up beating UNLV 42-23. Woot woot. Go Cougs!!

Sunday we enjoyed church then visited my aunt Jackie and grandparents. It was so wonderful to spend time with my dad and have our heartfelt talks. He and I do that well...
This is grandma's cat Mac. Grandma sure loved this cat. It made me think of her a lot.
My dad is the best. He fixed a few things I needed done around my apartment including hanging this mirror. It was gathering dust on it cuz it had waited so patiently to be put up. Thanks dad.
A memorable weekend for me for sure. And now to the start of another week. A cold week.

Snows a Comin'

I couldn't decide which black pair of shoes to wear so I decided to share both.
The snows a comin. I'm ready to hibernate for the winter. hehe. JK! I've continued running outside by bundling myself up good and plenty. I will avoid the gym at all costs. Gosh it sure is hard to get motivated when this cold weather hits. What do you do to keep motivated?? I'm all ears.

Veterans Day

Today I'm grateful for the military in many ways. Mostly that it brought my brother Trent and sister-in-law Angela together. They met in Greece while both serving in the Navy. We feel blessed daily to have her in our family. This summer I took a few photos of their beautiful family when we went to visit temple square. I realized I had never shared them so what better day to do so than on Veteran's Day! I hope they both know how proud I am of them for serving our country. I'm so grateful to have them in my life.
Thank you to Trent and Angela....Thinking of my grandpas and uncles who've also served....Thanks to all those who have given their service and to those who are currently serving.

 Happy Veterans Day.

Sunday Inspiration

Vintage skirt and shoes, Anthropologie tights, thrifted blazer, Mod Bod top.
"I am in charge of how I feel and today I am choosing happiness."

This is all I really have to say today. I choose to be happy. No matter what happens....Happiness is what I want most of all. Feeling grateful for the comfort I feel knowing I have a Heavenly Father who loves me. I'm grateful for those times I feel His arms around me. Knowing that is the sure foundation of my happiness. Because I have faith that he will show me what I need to do in my life to achieve what I truly want and deserve.

"God loves us! He is good. He is our Father and He expects us to pray and trust, and be believing, and not give up, and not panic, and not retreat, and not jump ship when something doesn't seem to be going right." -Jeffrey R. Holland

This gave me a lot of comfort so I hope it does you as well.

Black Hearts, Vintage Shoes, Ripped Knees, and This Scarf

Madewell sweatshirt, vintage shoes, Joes jeans, and Just Dawnelle scarf.

I brought out my scarf bin this week and found this beauty tucked away. It was ready to come out of hibernation. I love a scarf that can come back year after year. Here is how I wore it last year:
She is doing a 20% off sale this weekend (use code "yourock20" at checkout) and her scarves are selling fast so go visit her etsy shop!
I must give a nice big shout out to my oldest nephew Preston!! Today is his 15th birthday.
It's a big one for him. He's old enough to have his drivers license! How is this possible?? It was just yesterday I was first getting my drivers license. How does time go by so quickly?! I was just a little younger than him when he was born. He was born pre-mature and we all called him "Peanut". I remember his tiny little body barely covered half of my lap. Now he's surpassed me in height. I sure love him so much. More than I could ever describe in words.
 Happy Birthday Preston!! Love you!
