Free Glasses: Firmoo

I was contacted by Firmoo to try out some of their glasses. I was very impressed when I recieved them. They came quickly, well packaged, and included a very nice case and a cleaning cloth. They're very sturdy and the quality seems very durable.

This is kind of a giveaway except EVERYONE wins!! Each one of you can get your own pair for free!! Firmoo will send you your first pair free as long as you pay the shipping. You can send them your detailed prescription and pick out whatever pair you want. I really like their website too because you can upload your picture and get an idea of what glasses will look good on your face. They have a selection of colors too! But if you're like me, I don't even wear glasses or contacts so mine are strictly for fashion purposes. They will send them with just a regular lense. Whether you're male or female, they have something for everyone...It's pretty much a win win situation!

So all you have to do is go their their website HERE and get started!

The ones I'm wearing are found  HERE.

Let me know which ones you pick and I'd love a link to a picture when you do recieve them!

Giving Thanks

What a neat holiday to celebrate and be reminded of the things that we are and should be thankful for in our lives.

Here are a few pictures from the Buckley Thanksgiving...

Dad always carves the turkey...

I absolutely LOVE McKenna's wide leg velvet pants. She's always so cute!

Sam is 2 now...and during the prayer he kept saying, "Daddy, close your eyes." "Baby needs to close her eyes too." Such a fun age.

We feel so blessed to be able to have food on our plates to fill our bellies. I know that there are so many people out there that go without every day.

Everyone contributed something to our meal which I feel made it more special. It was DELICIOUS!

After dinner we all sat together and watched Brave...
(or at least tried to for a little bit until the little kids attention span DIED....)

Then of course we had pumpkin pie to finish off our evening.

I am thankful for those in my life...
For my Dad who always jokes around just to see me smile.
For my Mom who is always thinking of others before herself.
For my sister Jen for being my friend
For my brother Trent who still making me feel like a kid.
For my Sister-in-law Angela who is another eternal sister of mine.
For my sister McKenna being my thrift buddy and for not being ashamed to tell me the truth.
For Preston's hugs.
For Dane's movie quoting.
For Tanner's tenderness when I give him a sad face and he strokes my hair.
For Sam's love that I can feel through his voice when he says "Bran..".
For Lydia's smile.
I'm thankful to know that I have an Eternal family.

Also thankful for my close friends (you know who you are) and extended family. (which includes os Brasilieros!)

Lastly, I'm thankful to be a daughter of our Heavenly Father. I feel His presence in my life daily. I'm grateful for His light in my life.

I encourage all of you whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or not, to reflect on the things you're thankful for.  Sometimes we may feel like there is nothing good in our lives...but look at the sunset, take a walk, or run, or skip, or sing,  look across the room at someone you may know,  give a hug, smile at someone...and realize that there is soooo much, even the little things, to be thankful for.

Thanks for reading. I am thankful for all you who care to give a minute of your time just to enter a tidbit of my life.  It is a strength to me.

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is How We Do It

Adventures of Preston and Aunt Brandi.
We make Walmart trips look like fun...

I was your stereotypical Walmart shopper...sweats and all..

While at Walmart we grabbed a couple facemasks and poor Preston got dragged into an at home spa treatment. Let me tell you...He is a good sport!!  Face Masks and Coconut Hair treatments (as seen HERE)

If you've never did hair/face treatments with a guy before...I would highly suggest it. He was cracking me up!

As I was putting the oil in his hair he says, "I hope it doesn't turn my hair pink like Nicki Minaj."

This is him demonstrating how he dries his hair.
What a goof...
We then relaxed and watched Brave. If you haven't seen it, you should. It is so cute!

Thanksgiving pictures to come. I had the most wonderful day with my family. Oh how I'm so so thankful for them!

Have any of you heard of Birchbox? You sign up for $10 (or other options if you chose) and they send you a box of samples once a month.  I heard about it from a fellow blogger and thought it would be kinda fun! So they have you join and then you have to wait like a month to get invited to recieve your box. Kinda a long wait, but I finally got the email saying it was my turn. haha...

I recieved my first box today.

Inside were these little goodies:
*Archipelago Pomegranate Body Soap
*Lulu Organics Lavender and Clary Sage Hair Powder (So excited to try this! I go 5-6 days without washing my hair.. I usually use dry shampoo but I always love to try organic products!)
*ModelCo Fibre Lashxtend Lengthening Mascara (Also stoked about this mascara, I need all the lengthening I can get!)
*Mox Botanicals Pomegranate and Fig Lip Butter
*SoyJoy Cranberry Snack Pack (gluten-free with real cranberries...yum!)

I will try it for a couple months. I like that they pick the items and it's a different selection every time...it's kinda like Christmas. Speaking of Christmas...

I don't know about you, but I sure get giddy this time of the year. Or maybe it was Michael...

Thrifty Thursday

Here is the low down on my outfit:

Tee- Old Navy
Coat- H&M
Mocs- Minnatonka
Scarf-Old Navy
Purse- Coach

So if you're a regular follower, last week on Thrifty Thursday I had you guess "one" item that was thrifted in my outfit. This week I challenge you to guess the "one" item that is NOT thrifted. Thats right.....everything in my getup is second hand except one item.

Whoever guesses will get a shout out and your blog link added to this post  Ready? Go...
Make sure you check back!

You guessed it Ashley.
Ashley just happens to be my cousin. She is an amazing photographer. (And new mom of little Beckham.) Just go check out her photography blog HERE!

Yes.....the scarf is the only thing that IS NOT thrifted from my outfit. It shouldn't even really count though because I bought it last year at Old Navy when all the winter stuff was on sale and it was $5.

Bundle Up and Go!

Winter running advice:
If it's not below zero, bundle up and go...

Some people may think I'm crazy for this, but come on...Let's forget hybernating. Here are a few tips for smart layering to keep you warm during your winter workouts:
  • Choose synthetics: Ban cotton from your workout wardrobe. Opt instead for fabrics made of moisture-wicking polyester blends (look for Coolmax, dri-fit or dri-release on the label). Lately my favorite find (at a good price) is the Layers brand. I've found some great tops that are Quick Dry and keep me super warm. I always like to look at TJ Maxx because they have top brands for low price. You can never go wrong with Underarmour or Nike.
  • Warm your middle: Keep your midsection toasty by layering a tank top, long sleeve shirt and vest, depending on the temperature.
  • Cover your head and hands: Nearly a quarter of your body heat escapes from the top of your head, so hats are great temperature regulators (off when you’re hot, on when you’re cold). For your hands, mittens work better than gloves because they allow your fingers to warm each other.
  • Stay safe: Look for workout tops, vests and jackets that have reflective strips on the front and back. Plan to wear reflective gear as your top two layers. Also along this topic, be aware of your surroundings and don't run alone at night.
  • Stay dry: For bad weather days, throw on a light wind and water resistant jacket over a short or long-sleeved base layer. Look for a shell with vents in the back and under the arms to pipe out body heat that could trap sweat.

I bundled up and ran a little over 3 miles tonight. I can't complain too much about the weather during my run. 33 degrees but luckily only a light breeze. I started out feeling really well and going at a pretty good pace. But then my problem lately is (and you may not want to even hear this..haha)  that I have been dry heaving off and on and so it requires me to stop and walk a bit. Anyone have advice for this? I have been reading up on it and what I've found is that it may be dehydration or lack of hydration. So I've been trying to be more conscious about how much I drink during the day but it's still happening EVERY time I run. I've never had this problem before. So I'm all ears if anyone can help.

Anyone else have some winter workout tips they'd like to share? Or do you have any ideas, questions, or requests? I love ideas!!!    Email me runstylerun@gmail.com

"Christmas Radio"

Is it too early to start listening to Christmas music? Tonight after I finished my homework, I was browsing You Tube listening to random music. Then I decided to turn on Pandora and you know how you can only skip so many songs and then you hit your limit. Well, I do that and then switch stations. I was going down my list and saw "Christmas Radio" and thought, "Perfect!" You bet I loved every minute of it!
Winter I think is finally here. The snow is coming down...tonight as I was driving home from my daily activities I wasn't sure if the roads were just wet or if they were frozen...There is nothing worse than icy roads. "Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas" I absolutely love love love this time of the year.

Thrifty Thursday: What's thrifted?

Girls bathroom on campus...hehe...

There is one item in my outfit that is thrifted. Only one...
If you can't tell, why should I?
First person to guess what it is gets a shout out on this post with a link to your blog...ready.....go!

Already a winner!! haha... Good guess Emily from Polka Dots and Pencil Skirts. Go visit this cute girl's blog!

Got this shirt recently for $3. I absolutely love it.

Emily gave me an idea from her most recent post. Who has instagram? I am very frequently filling mine with thrift finds, daily activities, and just everyday things "I see". So feel free to follow me:

And let me know what your username is! I agree with Emily that it helps us feel more like friends.

Life Lately

Life lately, according to my iphone....

McKenna and I got together Saturday morning and went to a clothing swap! It was the first one I had ever been to. I took a huge bag of clothes to donate and McKenna took a honkin box. The entry fee was to bring canned goods. So we sorted through piles of clothes and found a few fun things! We were pretty selective because of the cause but it was fun to be able to "swap". Who can complain about free clothes!
It was so nice to spend some time with Kenna. We had mongolian and got to catch up.

Later I met up with Ashley and McCall and we went to the beauty school and got scalp treatments. I highly recommend it!! $8 for pretty much an hour long head, neck, and shoulder massage.

A couple new things:
I decided to try out Revlon Colorstay lipstick. Have you ever tried this stuff? I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet. When they say colorstay...they mean colorstay. This stuff doesn't come off. Which I like that, but toward the end of the day it flaked a little. I did wear it today though and didn't put as much on and it seemed a lot better. So...still deciding whether I like it or not.
Isn't that arrow ring pretty cool? I bought it at Style Lately on sale for $3!! So worth those pennies..hehe

I honestly can't believe it but this little man turns 13 this week....I was only 14 when he was born! Time is going by too quickly!!

Started bright and early this morning...7 am at the voting booths, 8 am temple session, and 10am breakfast at Smitty's. Oh how I love Smitty's. The last time I had gone was when I went with Ashley HERE. Also...it was so nice to spend some time with my folks. They're the best!

I discovered a new thrift store today! Well, it's not new but I had never noticed it before! So of course I had to go check it out and I was very excited to find that it was clean, well stocked, and thrift store prices. Sometimes those consignment shops forget they're a used clothing store....know what I mean? I got a handful of jewelry pieces that were anywhere from $3 to $.50! I know...big spender. hehe.

I will just end with my beautiful kitty named "Kitty". I took her to the groomer today to get all nice and clean. That face is about how she felt about it....But doesn't she look so purrrrrty :)

How has your week started out so far?
