Thrifty Thursday-Treasure Hunting

I thought today I'd share some easy tips and tricks to thrift shopping. I am taking you to my favorite consignment shop today, Lily's! Firstly....give yourself an hour to two hours. Be ready to dig in to everything! Most importantly....don't get overwhelmed when you go in to a thrift store. Often times you can think, "where do I start?" I always have something in mind that I may want to find. A jean shirt, a pair of boots, a jacket, a purse, a bracelet, or a skirt....etc. I usually start with the purses, then the shoes, then look through the jewelry,  then I'll start kinda digging through the clothes. I usually look for certain colors, or look for things that look vintage, or real leather.... Mostly I look at everything! You have to have an open mind too. Something may be ugly to someone but if you can imagine it with a cute skirt and boots...It could be the most fabulous thing you own. A mistake I've made though is to buy something I think may be cool and I end up hating it. Or buy something cuz its only $1. Thats a waste! Don't buy anything you don't love.....

Hard to read but it says, "you will find a real bargain"

Thrifting is honestly the funnest thing ever! It's literally treasure hunting! And the things you buy thrifting you tend to get more compliments on than anything that you spent an arm and a leg on.
Ashley bought this Douney and Bourke for $20 at Lily's

These are two things you've seen that I found at Lily's too!
Let me know if you're going thrifting for the first time and I'd love to see what you come out with!!

Beijos!!

  1. I've never gone thrifting. I have the same fears when I walk in as you described. The overwhelming 'where do I begin' thoughts, I scan everything and then just walk out with nothing. But your store looks like it has a lot of great finds.

I liked your suggestions on how to go in there. I might have to apply them next time I get myself to go in one cause I know I'll make out like a bandit if I give it a chance.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. :)

  5. Oh my gosh I wish we could go to this store together! Ive been wanting a vintage dooney for awhile but I never find just the right one. I love the old school duck logo! I remember my mom always had one dooney and burke bag that she would carry for years until it completely wore out only then would she buy a new one.

  28. I totally love thrifting! My latest deal was a houndstooth pencil skirt that fit like a charm through GoodWill for $2.49! Such a steal. The thing is you have to keep an open mind when thrifting and be open to the options instead of looking for something specific.
