Alan and I decided to take a three day weekend getaway for Valentine's this year. The winter blues were hitting us both and we knew we just needed a little time away. We decided to go to California! Guys, this is the perfect little vacation and I would highly recommend every bit of it that we did. Especially if you love enjoying the great outdoors and you don't love crowds. (Granted we did go in the off season. This is February.) We fit all we could in but also relaxed, took our time, and just enjoyed ourselves so much. Here is day 1!
We flew into LAX and rented a car. From there we went down to Santa Monica Pier. This first day did rain but it was very pleasant rain. After the Pier we visited the Los Angeles LDS temple then headed down and hopped on the Pacific Coast highway. We booked a hotel in Pismo Beach so we had 3 hours or so to drive. The drive was so beautiful. We grabbed a quick lunch on the way and just enjoyed seeing the coast.
About 10 miles from Pismo Beach is a city called San Louis Obisbo. We headed there for the day to do some thrift shopping and eat. We walked around in the rain, got some good shopping in (my husband is a great sport!), and I took Alan for his first time trying an Acai bowl. We randomly found this little place called Ubatuba. We shared Acai and some Pao de Quejo...Two very popular treats in Brazil and they were totally authentic. So good!!! We then headed back to Pismo Beach to check into our hotel. We stayed at the Cottage Inn by the Sea. It was right on the beach. Gorgeous views and the rooms were super nice. We went into the town to have dinner. We decided to have seafood at The Cracked Crab but had a 40 minute wait to be seated. So we walked (again in the rain) down to the pier there. SOOOOO gorgeous. We were soaked by the time we got back but it was totally worth it. The Cracked Crab was a delicious restaurant. Very towny feel and delicious catch of the day fish.
To be continued.....
See day two HERE.
