Most Comfortable Dress

Can anyone tell me where a woman would have worn this dress back in the 70's? I really am 100% serious. Like, was this a nightgown? Or a night gown overcoat? Or a house dress? Or heck, a party dress? It zips up the front and has pockets. It's the most comfortable piece I think you could ever find. Whatever it was, it's genius. The kind of dress you can get away with wearing no bra. Oh wait, what? Did I just say that?
