My Pretend Party

This is the second look for Provo Fashion Week. I feel like everything about this dress is perfect. It's simple yet glamorous! If I were ever invited to a New Years Eve party...I would in a heart beat wear this look. (That's supposed to be funny...Cuz a fun fancy New Years Eve party has never existed in my life's vocabulary...) But this sparkling cider would exist at my pretend party. And so would this amazing dress.

However you may celebrate it...Here's a cheers from me to a New Year!!

All Sorts of Wonderful

I had the opportunity last week to model for Provo Fashion Week which is coming in February. Photographed by the very beautiful and funny Emmy Lowe Photo. (She's hilarious, you must meet her..)  I wore two looks and this will be the first I'll share.
This dress is by the gorgeous Natalie Wynn Design. Isn't it lovely? It is perfectly modest yet figure flattering. Gosh the black and gold together is such a classic duo for the holiday season.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!! Whether you're dressing up or putting on your favorite Christmas jammies...I hope it's all sorts of your kind of perfect.

xoxo

A Holiday Look in Heels

I'm wearing heels!! I know this doesn't happen often. Let me tell you why I don't often wear them. This is not uncommon...But my right foot is about 1/2 size smaller than my left. So I tend to cater to my left foot. It doesn't like being squeezed into small shoes. So my righty always gets to be nice and roomy. For this reason, most heels don't work because my heel slips out on the right side. Travis J Photography (who is the brilliance behind these photos) suggested I put a little insert in the back of the right shoe. Um...am I such a dummy? Why didn't I ever think of that? Because I'm about as domesticated as they come. (hint of sarcasm.) I need to fix that I know...haha. Thanks Travis for being better at this fashion thing than I am!!
Now lets talk about these heels. They're vintage. My "vintage" knowledge tells me they're circa 1950 maybe 1960's. I found these lovelies at a thrift store and I'm not kidding...they didn't have an ounce of wear on them. I assume a pretty stylish woman bought them with good intentions....But they ended up sitting in the back of her closet, still in the box, where they sat until the day she died. (Sad thought. I'm sorry to have said it that way but the older vintage items usually don't leave their previous owners until someone forces them out of the house. And that usually means when they die.) They're the only pair of legit heels I own and I feel like they're the kind of heels I want to own. So classy and unique. I just love vintage for its one of a kind uniqueness. So thank you classy lady with most likely a lot of shoes...too many to have even had time to wear these ones. Thanks for saving them for me.

Happy Holidays friends.

Style and Thrift Finds Lately

My style and thrifty adventures lately:
I love mixing prints and colors that shouldn't go together. And no...Utah has no snow yet.
A creepy bathroom and thrifted Ralph Lauren sweater.
The sweater from yesterdays post and thrifted Minnetonka moccasins. Brand new!!! Total 70's vibes.
Seriously cool circa 1970's plaid coat...Thrifted.
Thrifted and brand new Birkenstocks. Thrifted and vintage vest. And this bag that I'm obsessed with from Fount Leather Goods. I don't mind investing in quality items that will last. I thrift quality and I invest in quality.
I wore this today and had three people compliment it! One was brave enough to ask where I got it. Thrifted. And it's a vintage Irish wool sweater. So good.
I thrifted these Bass duck boots last year for $5. Have come in handy a bit...Just a bit since we haven't had much snow this year.... eeeek.
I didn't end up getting this one...But it's so cool yes?? Should I have gotten it? Circa 1970's genuine leather jacket.
You've seen this coat in this post and this post. Thrifted in Idaho. It's vintage and I paid $12 for it. Score. One of my favorites.
Another one I really loved but didn't get. It's still at Maeberry Vintage if you want to go snag it!!
This is one that I couldn't pass up at Maeberry Vintage. It has leather elbow patches!!! Heart eyes.
Also...I get SOOOOO many questions about how I create these curls... So I'm preparing a tutorial coming soon.
Friday morning I had the opportunity to glam up and do a photo shoot for Provo Fashion Week. We did a holiday shoot I will get to share next week and I can't wait. We got to wear dresses created by local designers and they were lovely. There were a few girls there I have followed forever but never met. Some I didn't know... And also was able to get re-aquanted with this lovely...Nikki. I'm so glad I agreed to do it. I know I need to get out of my comfort zone a little more. hehe.

That's it for this week. I sure love thrifting and love sharing it here.

I would love some suggestions, requests, or questions about future posts. As I said...I will be doing a post very soon about my curls that I get questioned a lot about. If there is anything anyone else would like to see on my little platform here I am all ears. Thanks for following along!

Mixing the Old with the New

The girls from Maeberry Vintage described my style as "mixing the old with the new" and I don't think they could have been more on point! I love vintage. I love it! I love its one of a kind uniqueness. I like that it gives my looks that step outside of the norm. I do also of course love classic styles of today. Mixing them together I feel is what gives me my own unique style.
Vintage stores like Maeberry are so fun to visit because they have hand picked vintage gems you literally feel like you're shopping in the past. I visited their store at Unhinged in Sugarhouse recently and came away with treasures like this amazing circa 1970's sweater. It even has the cutest little zipper in the back. I just love everything about it.
I've fallen in love with Maeberry Vintage and told the owner Rachael to let me know when they get new items in. I'm that person yes. Seriously...such a fun store. If you're in the Salt Lake area you need to stop in and sift through their treasures.  I have been thinking about a poncho that I left there...Yeah...I think I'll just go back for it. hehe.

I'm gonna make it super easy for you...Here's their address. It's in the upstairs section of the store Unhinged:
2165 S. 11th E. Salt Lake City, Utah
You can also check out their etsy shop HERE.

Favorite Essentials

This look just so happens to be compiled of a few of my favorite essential pieces I own...Starting with of course a basic tee and jeans:

1-This trench coat. This is a trench coat sold at Anthropologie that is compiled of recycled materials. It retails for over $400 and I just so happen to find it at DownEast Outfitters for $20. It was the only one of it's kind and besides finding it sold out online...I haven't seen it anywhere since! Love that.
2-Loafers. I own probably 10 pair of loafers/oxfords. Because I'm tall, I prefer wearing flats. I love loafers or oxfords because I like that they cover my arch and they're always just super comfortable. These my friend Karla found at a thrift store for me! They're Cole Haan. I get complimented on these EVERYWHERE I go. Who donates this stuff? I swear, I ask myself that so much haha.
3-Lastly is this amazing leather bag. It has easily become my favorite favorite I own. It's from Fount Leather Goods.  This is the Bellfield Tote in Hazelnut. I absolutely fell in love with this husband and wife duo and their beautiful work. They are inspired by vintage which as you know I can relate to. And as soon as I pulled it out of the box...I could tell it was something that will last forever! The leather is so supple yet sturdy. After holding it and feeling the quality with my own hands, I don't doubt it will only get better with time. If you don't believe me, just ask everyone who's seen me with it...Including the woman behind me at the post office who admitted she stared at it the entire time we were in line together. haha.

 Beijos!!

Best of the Best

I should just give complete credit of this post to my friend Karla. Here's a few reasons why:

First she took these photos. Thanks friend. hehe.

She gave me this amazing vintage coat for Christmas. An early Christmas present you could say. I usually have a hard time with vintage coats fitting just right....Either the arms are too baggy or just a little too short or they have annoying shoulder pads I can't get out...But this one I love in every way. And I know Karla knew it would be a good match for me.

If you want to invest a little in the best pair of denim EVER, get these jeans. They're the perfect kind of high waist. Perfect wash that goes with everything. I literally wear them every other day. So comfortable and the best quality around. Karla text me about them a month or so ago saying how much she loved them. Of course I had to try them and of course I loved them too. (I linked directly to them in the outfit details below.)

The boots I got recently on an Instagram shop. Any time Karla sees brands I love and they're my size...She always tags me. She just so happened to tag me on these boots and I couldn't pass them up. They're the most amazing boots I could probably ever own. I love Frye and have for years. Best quality leather shoes and boots there are out there. They can be pricy but you can find them affordable on Ebay or as I did on Instagram shops.

Karla and I are so much a like in so many ways. I could talk and talk and talk for hours about it. But in this case...we are alike in that we love the best of the best at the best prices. We love sharing that with each other. And of course we love sharing that with our followers. I'm so grateful for a friend who gets me and gets what I like. That is not easy to come by. Love her so so much!

xoxo
